NC BIOTECH Venture Challenge is an initiative launched by the NC Biotechnology Center Southeastern Office in 2020, with Lead Partner the UNCW Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship and supporting partners NC IDEA.
Benefits for the 3 venture finalists and 3 pre-venture finalists include monetary awards totaling $80,000, mentoring assistance, a public venture pitch event, a 12-month Tenancy at UNCW Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship for the top award winner, NC Biotech Life Science Intelligence Team expert assistance, and many other benefits.
The winner from each of the five regional challenges continues to the state-level challenge for additional mentoring assistance, NC Biotechnology Center Life Science Intelligence team support, promotion, public appearance, and additional monetary awards totaling over $100,000 on June 27, 2024 in Greensboro, NC. Monetary Awards of $100,000 for statewide winners, in addition to the $240,000 for regional finalists, for an NC BIOTECH Venture Challenge total of $340,000 in non-dilutive funding for 18 North Carolina life sciences ventures and university technologies.
